SAMUEL KEENEY

“While everyone is outside the box reinventing the wheel, I’m in the box with like 50 wheels and I’m having the time of my life”

Sam Keeney first met the man himself, Brandon Whipple, in mid to late 2019. They were living in the same suite at the time, so that probably helped. It would be weird if it took them longer to meet. The two of them bonded over a shared desire to write. Also, they both really loved the video game “Until Dawn.” Like way too much, a solid like thirty percent of their conversations brought up the game in some caliber. But the two of them became good friends, with Sam offering input here and there about projects. While Sam may technically be one of the newest members of Some Dude Productions, he has witnessed much of the formation of the company and has (hopefully) helped it reach its current state through emotional support and a desire to help out. He also had an extremely heated argument with Brandon about the thematic weight of cutting off a man’s arm (don’t worry about it.)

In his high school years, Sam was offered entry into the Coterie Young Playwrights Roundtable, an exclusive playwright group consisting of local teenage writers from around Kansas City. This group, alongside extra-curricular theater productions, helped shape Sam’s interests in the more creative elements of life. Sam didn’t really know what he wanted to do. Now at college, he has helped out with productions such as The Duchess of Malfi and Top Girls, but he still doesn’t really know what he’s doing. But that’s alright. Sam likes to write, having written A Decays Story: Haven twice for SDP alongside countless other short scenes he hopes to one day see on stage. Moreover, he wants to learn. He wants to learn how to shoot a film, and maybe even how to act. And isn’t that the beauty of creative projects like these, that you can learn? Sam thinks so at least.
